My collages explore the realm between the purely abstract and the representational. They are simple figure-ground compositions populated with colorful, abstract forms. It is my intent that they evoke associations that are seemingly familiar while what they suggest remains somewhat ambiguous and elusive. Although the finished collages always seem to suggest certain objects, beings, or situations, my process is intuitive. I make small collages almost every day as a warm-up activity in the studio.
